Monday Tip: A warm “good morning”
This monday, your mission is really simple: All morning, give everyone you meet an extra warm greeting. Smile broadly. Say “Good morning” in a cheerful voice. Take time to ask people how they are (really, not the fake “how are you” greeting).
Don’t worry if people don’t answer or don’t smile back – it’s not a slight on you they may just be preoccupied or having a bad day. When that happens smile even more at the next person :o)
The Chief Happiness Officer’s monday tips are simple, easy, fun things you can do to make yourself and others happy at work and get the work-week off to a great start. Something everyone can do in five minutes, tops. When you try it, write a comment here to tell me how it went.

Alexander,
Question – How come some people in an office will never say good morning or acknowlegde you until you say good morning to them first? I work for the federal government where this happens every morning. I have assumed that these people are just plain arrogant and want the other person to acknowledge them first. Or, these type of people just hate the world and don’t want to be bothered. I personally even go the extra mile by saying each person’s name when I see them for the first time in the morning, such as “good morning Cathy.” However, very few people will make this effort happen on a regular basis if ever. What is wrong with this world? I guess I am just more educated than most people, and understand the importance of making someone feel good about themselves and the environment they work in.
