Monday Tip

The Chief Happiness Officer's monday tipsWe’re reviving one of my favorite traditions on this blog namely the Monday Tip. Every Monday, we’ll give you one simple tool, trick, tip or idea that you can use to make yourself or your co-workers a little happier.

This week’s tip is to put something fun on your office door (or your cubicle wall) where co-workers, employees and bosses will see it.

This 2-minute video shows you how – and if you can do it in a bank, I guess it can be done anywhere :o)

What will you put on your door? Have a happy week!

The Chief Happiness Officer’s Monday tips are simple, easy, fun things you can do to make yourself and others happy at work and get the work-week off to a great start. Something everyone can do in five minutes, tops. When you try it, write a comment here to tell me how it went.

I tried this today with great results! I was promoted two weeks ago, and am now managing two people in had previously worked with as peers/equals. I put today’s wondermark comic on my door (it was about a guy expressing worry over his new job, in a funny way) and I added a short personal note. When I left my office an hour or two later, one of the coworkers had added an artistic, creative, and FUN comment/extension. It made me laugh and opened a door for me to lob another fun volley. We ended up having a relaxed and relaxing conversation at the end of the day. It was a win, win, WIN,

Everyone in my organization placed a fish with a motivational phrase on our doors. It encouraged employees to take a moment out, read the phrase, and understand how it was applicable to their life. It gives people an opportunity to take a moment to reflect on what really matters.
