Get my books (Happy Hour is 9 To 5 and Leading With Happiness) free of charge

Times are tough for for workplaces all over the world right now. I would like to share some of my tools in the hope that maybe it can help a little.

So I’m making my two main books available as pdf downloads free of charge for anyone who wants them. There’s also no annoying email signup required or anything – just click below to download either book.

Happy Hour is 9 To 5

“It’s very, very good. It’s incredibly well written, full of insights, and there are exercises to improve your own happiness at work. You can’t ask for more than that!”
– David Maister, author of Practice What You Preach

“I have read well over 100 articles/books on topics covering happiness in the workplace and your book was by far one of the best. In fact, it was so informative that I went on and sent the link to your book to my entire professional network.”
– Chris Hollins, President, talentgrade.com

This book clearly explains what happiness at work is (and isn’t) and what each of us can do to have work we love.

Leading With Happiness

“What an inspiring book. Every leader should read it and learn how to promote happiness for employees, customers, suppliers, investors, and even the leader him- or herself. That type of leadership has been integral to our success and I know it will boost your results too.”
– Garry Ridge, CEO WD-40 Company

This book presents a simple but radical idea: The fundamental goal of any leader should be to increase happiness in the world. Leaders who don’t do that are doing it wrong.

Drawing on fascinating lessons from psychology, neurobiology and philosophy, the book demonstrates why leaders should put happiness first – for themselves, their employees, their customers, and the wider world – and why happy leaders are more successful.

If you’d prefer to have either book as a kindle ebook or on paper (how old-school) they are available here and here.

Reviews wanted :)

happyhourcoverAs you may know, my first book Happy Hour is 9 to 5 has just been republished in English.

I’m currently looking to get as many reviews for it on Amazon in the next 24 hours as possible, so if you’ve read it, could you possibly go on there and review it? That would be awesome!

And if you could even repeat that on Amazon UK, that would be even better :)

THANKS – you rock!

Updating Happy Hour is 9 to 5

Happy Hour is 9 to 5 by Alexander Kjerulf

UPDATE: The book has already gone out and I’ve received the edits, updated the manuscript and sent it in to the publisher. Thank you to everyone who helped out!!

I am currently updating my first book Happy Hour is 9 to 5 for its upcoming re-release with Pine Publishing.

I wrote the book way back in 2007 and I want to make sure that the book is properly updated and still relevant.

Would you like to help me?

I’m looking for some people to read through the book (or just parts of it) and give me their honest feedback on what I should update.

Would you like to help me out?

If so, here’s what you must do:

  1. Write a comment below – don’t forget to include your name and email address
  2. I will email you the book as a pdf e-book
  3. You read it through and send me your comments back
  4. I update the book and will be eternally grateful :o)

Thanks in advance.

Fighting cancer with happiness

The staff of Delete Blood Cancer with their brand new copies of Happy Hour is 9 to 5. WOOHOO!

I recently spoke about happiness at work in New York and after the event, one attendee sent me this email:

Thanks for coming to speak to the group in New York last month. Glad I got the chance to finally meet you after reading your blog for so many years.

When I got back to work the next day, I told my department about your talk and showed them some of the videos on your site. My boss, inspired by the overall message of Arbejdsglaede and amused by the hand-drawn video, bought a copy of your book for everyone in our group. Here is a photo of us with our crisp new copies!

Most of us are quite new, as our company is growing fast. We’re hoping to build a happy, productive workplace and will be using your book as one of the prime resources. Hopefully, we’ll soon develop a reputation as a great place to work, in addition to being known for the word we do [matching bone marrow donors to Leukemia patients in need].

Thanks for all you do, keep up the good work.

And right back at ya, Prescott!

I recently did an interview about happiness at work in non-profits. Sadly I’ve found that while the work people do there is often very rewarding and meaningful, they are not always very happy workplaces.

You can read more about Delete Blood Cancer and the amazing work they do here. I highly urge you to check it out and to register as a donor today. You could save someone’s life.
